Service Upgrade

A key part of your electrical system is your electrical service. This is the area outside where the power company wiring comes to your home or business. The power will typical come in from underground or overhead from a utility pole, underground tap box or transformer located somewhere on your property. The power terminates in what is called a meter base. The meter base is a box or socket that your electric meter is plugged into. The power company is responsible for all equipment and wiring up to the meter base but it is the customer’s responsibility from there. Many times the wire that is terminated in the meter base becomes loose causing excessive heating. The heating can cause burning of the lug or connection. In this case both the meter base and the wire have to be replaced.
